Who's Who?
Luke Skywalker:
Luke Skywalker is a moisture farmer from the planet Tatooine, a frustrated and adventurous young man who wants to join the Rebel Alliance and help the fight against the Galactic Empire. Luke's life is fairly mundane until he and his uncle buy two droids R2D2 and C3PO who are being hunted for carrying stolen plans for the Empire's secret weapon the Death Star, Luke accidentally uncovers a message from Princess Leia Organa to a Jedi Master known as Obi-Wan Kenobi asking him for his help against the Empire. Luke sets out to find Kenobi and soon ends up on a quest to rescue the princess from the Death Star with help from the sceptical smuggler Han Solo and his Wookie companion Chewbacca. Events ensue as they are captured by the Empire and Obi-Wan is struck down by the Sith Lord Darth Vader, this causes Luke to join a Rebel attack on the Death Star. All seems lost until Luke hears the voice of Obi-Wan telling him to use the Force a mysterious presence which give Jedi their power. By using the Force Luke destroys the Death Star and begins his journey to becoming a Jedi like his father before him.
Han Solo:
Han Solo is a smuggler, rogue and pilot who started off as a very sceptical and selfish scoundrel who only believed in money and double-crossing but soon became one of the most highly-respected fighters of the Rebel Alliance. The pilot of the Millennium Falcon along with his co-pilot and companion Chewbacca were found in the Mos Eisley Cantina by Obi-Wan and Luke who were looking for a pilot to take them to Alderaan. Han reluctantly agreed and they began their journey only to find Alderaan destroyed by the Death Star and they're quickly captured and are forced to disguise themselves as Stormtroopers and rescue Leia themselves. After the events of the first movie Han stays with the Rebellion becoming a general and assisting them with various campaigns against the Empire.
Princess Leia Organa:
Leia Organa was a princess on the planet Alderaan, member of the Imperial Senate and secret member of the Rebel Alliance. Leia was a passenger on board the Rebel ship Tantive-IV which was boarded by Darth Vader along with a squad of Stormtroopers looking for stolen plans of the Death Star which Leia possessed. In an act of desperation she stores the plans in R2D2 one of the droids purchased by Luke Skywalker, she was then taken prisoner by the Empire and tortured. She didn't reveal anything and she was forced to watch Alderaan be destroyed. Sometime later she was eventually rescued by Luke, Han and Chewbacca. They returned to Yavin-4 a Rebel controlled planet where she stayed for sometime before the events of Episode V.
Darth Vader:
Darth Vader was the Sith Lord who was in command of the Galactic Empire during the war with the Rebel Alliance. Vader had great control over the Force and was the former apprentice of Obi-Wan Kenobi before he was turned to the Dark Side by Emperor Palpatine. Vader oversaw the building of the Death Star and was responsible for hunting down the stolen plans and was prepared to do anything to get them back even going so far as destroying an innocent planet to force Leia to confess the location of the plans. The Sith was known for choking officers of the Empire who failed him and was feared by his subordinates the only person Vader bowed to was his master the Emperor. It is later revealed in Episode V that Vader's name was Anakin Skywalker and he is in fact the father of Luke Skywalker.
Yoda:
Yoda was a Jedi Grandmaster who spent 500 years teaching the ways of the Force. During the Clone Wars before the destruction of the Jedi Order, Yoda was the highest ranking member of the council and was responsible for instructing the new young Jedi. After Order 66 was enacted Yoda fled to Dagobah where he resided in solitude until he was found by Luke Skywalker who was seeking his training, Yoda agreed to train Luke until Luke had a vision which forced him to leave. He promised Yoda he'd return to finish his training which ultimately they did until Yoda died and became one with the Force.
The Emperor:
Emperor Palpatine otherwise known as Darth Sidious the supreme leader of the Galactic Empire, Lord of the Sith and master of Darth Vader. Palpatine was responsible for the destruction of the Jedi Order when he issued Order 66, Palpatine quickly conquered the galaxy and named himself emperor and giving Vader command of his forces. It was Palpatine who ordered the building of the Death Star and ultimately tried to turn Luke Skywalker to the Dark Side but was unsuccessful, he was thrown into the core of the Death Star by Anakin Skywalker.
Boba Fett:
Boba Fett was one of the most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy and one of the only people to have gained the respect of Darth Vader. Boba was the cloned son of the Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett, he had been tasked with tracking down Han Solo and to bring him to Vader, he was successful after The Empire had blackmailed an old friend of Han's (Lando Calrissian) into luring him to Bespin. The Empire were waiting and sprung a trap capturing Han, Leia and Chewbacca. Boba oversaw Han being frozen in carbonite and transported his bounty to the criminal kingpin Jabba the Hutt. Boba was killed after a blind Han knocked him into the Sarlacc Pit.
Obi-Wan Kenobi:
Obi-Wan Kenobi was a general in the Old Republic and a Jedi Master. Obi-Wan was the apprentice of Gui-Gon Jinn and Anakin Skywalker's former master, one of the last Jedi in existence besides Yoda and Luke Skywalker Obi-Wan had been forced into hiding after the destruction of the Jedi Order and the rise of The Galactic Empire. Residing on Tatooine he had been responsible for hiding Luke from Darth Vader and had stayed on the planet ever since, living life as a seclusive hermit he was found by Luke after he discovered a message for Kenobi stored within R2D2 it was Kenobi who first introduced Luke to the Force and explained who the Jedi once were. Together they set out for Mos Eisley and hired Han Solo and Chewbacca to take them to Alderaan. Unfortunately Alderaan had been destroyed by The Empire and they were swiftly captured and brought on board the Death Star. Events ensued and Kenobi was forced to duel with Vader, knowing Vader had the upper hand Kenobi became one with the Force and allowed himself to be killed. He later appeared to Luke as a Force Ghost and provided him with guidance on his journey to becoming a Jedi.
